Getting Married

In less than a month, I will be married. My finance, Rachel, and I have been together for almost 8 years, so I'm not nervous about being married at all. People seem to love giving advice to couples who are newly married or about to be married...

What advice do you have?

yay Greg!! (I can't believe it is already next month). I've been following some of your pre-wedding parties through Rachel's facebook photos and am so excited for you two!
Our 2 favorite wedding things were things that may be part of your ceremony too, I don't know -- seeing each other before hand (we signed the ketubah together with our parents, witnesses, and rabbi right before the 'public' part of the wedding) was really great because "the big moment" where we finally saw each other was private and special, and allowed us to then be calm and really enjoy the public party of the ceremony. (But that may all be irrelevant if you guys are signing it separately) And the yihud was amazing - having a few minutes post-ceremony to just be wtih each other and go "hey, I just married you...wow!" without having to talk to guests or take pictures was really special. We've even been recommending something like a yihud to all of our non-Jewish friends. :)
The only other thing that was really great for us was that we had a cocktail party to attend Thursday, so everything had to be totally done by Wednesday -- having a few days before the wedding that were completely planning and detail free was really nice, because my mom was starting to stress about it a lot! It was good to have a few stress-free days to enjoy before everything instead of planning up to the very last minute.
But that was just our favorite things. I'm sure you'll have different ones.
My advice?? hmmm...just have fun and don't worry about the details, because they won't matter when you're in the moment! You guys are incredible individuals and an amazing couple - i'm sure everything will be wonderful and I am so happy and excited for you both!

I thought you hated getting advice. I guess that was unsolicited advice you don't like getting. I can't give you any advice except that you're a really lucky guy because Rachel is so great. And Rachel - you aren't doing so bad yourself. =)

I can't wait to see y'all next month!!
